When you begin selecting options for your sign, you’ll be presented with two choices: MDF and Baltic Birch. Only you can determine which option is right for you, but here’s some information about both to help you make your final decision:

— MDF is made from recycled wood, which means it’s a great choice for customers concerned about the environment but don’t want to sacrifice quality in the name of being green. MDF board is constructed from leftover wood scraps in such a way that you have a smooth finished product without knots or other imperfections in the board. Its smoothness makes it a terrific surface for painting and it is usually seen as a terrific inexpensive alternative to solid wood.

— Baltic Birch isn’t actually a type of birch tree; it’s the industry name for plywood that originates in the Baltic states. Generally seen as a higher-quality alternative to your average birch-based plywood, Baltic Birch has greater thickness, better stability, and higher stiffness because it isn’t filled with softwood and other filler plies.
