Plastic Letters – Which To Choose
There are a couple differences between acrylic and plastic sign letters a buyer should know about. Acrylic letters give you the sharp edges because they’re made using water jet cutting or laser cutting. Because they’re made this way the letters are solid with sharp clean edges. The plastic letters are mostly made using a mold this way you get more of a rounded edge and hollow letter. One letter is not more durable than the other it really comes down to what you want your sign to look like. There’s more flexibility when making an acrylic sign or custom font because it is not built using a mold so if you have something custom you can send us we would most likely build it in acrylic.
I know this is mostly the differences between acrylic and plastic but both also come with options of LED back lighting which can really make your sign stand out at night. If you were doing an indoor sign there would be no need for the LED lighting. Both acrylic and plastic letters come with a money back guarantee against fading, cracking or chipping.
Plastic letters because its using a mold has a basic depth that grows as the letter gets bigger while acrylic letters you can decide on the depth of the letter that ranges from 1/4 of an inch to 1 inch thick. If you wanted a thicker letter it would have to be a custom order and you would need to send us the specs. Plastic letters are less expensive if you wanted depth in your sign since it requires less material as they are hollow instead of the solid acrylic.
